After the previous review of Interlude Man it’s high time to share my thoughts about his sister from the Interlude duet that was introduced by Amouage this year. Let’s take a deep dive into the infinite sea of chaos once again and see what misteries are hidden within a bottle of Amouage Interlude Woman. Unlike the male version of this scent, the woman interpretation is not a spicy-woody fragrance, but it belongs to a category of floral-chypres. The nose who created this perfume is Karine Vinchon Spehner. It is a perfume that reveals an interlude moment of unity and serenity. [1]
The opening of Interlude Woman on my skin is a zesty, bittersweet mix of bergamot and grapefruit. It’s quite juicy, loud and lively of course! As for the beginning it’s an inviting one. Do you like kiwi? If you do you’re gonna love it, because immediately after the initial citrus blast the note of kiwi appears and it will have it’s place until the very end. Once marigold and immortelle get few words to say Interlude Woman becomes more floral and it gets more warmth. Honey accord is quite strong here and pairing it with a soft leathery smell gave me an illusion of smoked plum or a lapsang souchong tea, really interesting.
After some time I could smell the spicy dryness provided by sandalwood, incense and a small dose of oud. Don’t forget about the walnuts, you’ll probably detect them too! The note of coffee blends nicely with oakmoss, so you shouldn’t have problems with this stage if coffee is not your friend in perfume. It’s definitely not my friend and I wasn’t offended by it’s well hidden presence. When you get to the Interlude’s drydown you’ll be embraced by the warming aroma of woods, blended with creamy vanilla, amber and musks. At some earlier point of wearing Interlude Woman you might discover rosy accord but I somehow missed it earlier. I find rose in the drydown though. The lighter notes of jasmine and orange blossom got lost between the stronger, more dominant notes.
The wonderful juice of Amouage Interlude Woman is captured in Amouage’s signature glass crystal bottle in the same midnight blue color as the flacon for man. Outer packaging also matches the chaotic theme of Interlude Man. Longevity and sillage of this fragrance are really great. Interlude Woman remains bold, unpredictable and daring and so should be woman of Interlude. It’s a perfume for mistresses who have the power to bring and control the chaos. You can get it in either 50 ml or 100 ml bottle, EdP version. Both Interlude fragrances are great, but after testing both pieces of the duet I admit that Interlude Woman is more interesting for me.

My, what a beautiful bottle! Thank you for the review, Lucasai! It sounds wonderful, I’ll have to give it a try!
I agree, the bottle of Interlude Woman is a beauty. I wonder which bottle would win if we put two blue perfume bottles of Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee and Amouage Interlude Woman together.
It is a really great perfume, definitely give it a try when you get the chance, and of course, report back with your own thoughts then 🙂
Was excited right up until I saw the honey note- that’s usually a no-go for me. Amouage scents I’ve tried so far aren’t me but are truly fascinating. I keep trying them just because I find them interesting.
Excellent review! From other early reviews I’ve seen, Interlude sounds not terribly easy to analyze. Great job!
Honey in Interlude works with leather, so for me it smelled of a smoked plum rather than a pure honey in the jar.
I admit that Amouage does interesting scents and they all share the oriental manner and you know I’m not a big fan of orientals. But they’re definitely interesting. Lyric Man is my favourite & I could have some more of it.
It was a pleasure to write this review. The perfume is really strong, so finding the notes wasn’t that difficult.
We’re definitely on the same page with this one. A truly challenging and beautiful perfume!
I’m sure there will be more viewiews that we’ll we on the same page in the matter of opinions. If I were to chose I’d rather go for a bottle of Interlude Woman than Man, how about you?
Hmmm. That’s a good question. I honestly think I need both, that’s definitely a first for me when it comes to the Amouage duos.
Both Interludes would look cute next to your white bottle of Honour Woman.
Don’t tempt me! 🙂
Sorry, didn’t mean to! They’re so expensive that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to afford my own FB. So glad that we have our split board in Poland – it’s a great way to join some smaller amounts of perfume to your collection.
Splits are a great way to go with such expensive perfumes. If I really love them though I’ll be having them in the collection.
You know, when I really LOVE a perfume I go for a full bottle, but there are fragrances that I really LIKE (almost LOVE) that I think that smaller amount will be good for me. And I need some more variations on iris! 🙂
Great review, Lucas. I am compiling my list of Amouages to sample (either order or sniff) from the Aedes store in NYC. They have a discovery set of 5 perfumes, although I don’T recall off the top of my head which ones were included.
Thank you hajusuuri! If you can include Interlude Woman in this set then do (or try it when you’ll be doing some sniffing) it’s really worth trying. If it sounds interesting to you after reading this review you shouldn’t be disappointed.
Okay, everyone is talking about Amouage and I’m losing the willpower to avoid trying them. My fear is that I’ll fall in love with one or more and my pocketbook will not be happy.
Congrats on your blog by the way!
I know Poodle, Interlude duet seems to be a bigger perfume release this season, that’s the source of talking I think. Yes, they’re so freakin’ expensive. I’m happy that I don’t love any, only really like one of them.
Thanks!
I’m not sure what kiwi smells like in a perfume. Are there other examples you can name?
Honestly it’s the first time I experienced a kiwi note in perfume. It’s smells a little green, slightly acidic. To me it really smelled like the real fruit.
Sorry I can’t help with naming other perfume that would have this note.
