Seaside breath

Since Friday I took some time off work. I realized I never went on any summer holidays because there was no possibility to travel really. So now I’m taking a possibility to catch a breath (quite late though) and together with parents we went to the Baltic seaside to visit my grandma. I hope to relax a bit, forget about work for a while and enjoy walks by the sea. Beach is beautiful in any season.

We’ll also help grandma as she’s having the pipes installed to have access to the hot water from the city, so during this break we’ll also help her with this renovation. So there will be some houseworks involved as well but I don’t mind, it’s a change from daily routine nonetheless. I’ll be taking some break from writing to let my head unwind as well. You won’t even notice and I’ll be back to you. And all of us will be amazed that it’s December already & that it’s time to think of Christmas presents.

Memories are made of Bliss

First working week in 2020 has passed by quite rapidly. It was a bit of a shock to go back to work, especially that I was on holidays from December the 21st until January the 7th. For over two weeks I had a pleasure of sleeping long, relaxing and doing things I like in preparation for the Christmas time. Those passed calmly & with a lot of rain – not a winter wonderland one would hope for this time of the year. There was no snow to be seen and in fact I still haven’t seen any. It’s much more like Autumn right now and temperatures are high like in early Spring. Climate is twisted these days.

For New Year’s Eve we decided to do something different this year. With my parents, my aunt & uncle we rented the appartment for 5 in Ustka, a town by the Baltic Sea. It was a bit like an escape from home to change a scenery for a different one, even if only for 3 days. It was a great idea and I still go back to those first days of 2020 that I spent there. The weather was lovely and the sea was charming. Ustka was beautifully illuminated by a thousands of lights that were sort of making it up for the lack of snow. We enjoyed the salty wind from the sea and the long walks on these lazy days.

Before midnight we went to the promenade where there was a concert under the stars. People were talking, shouting, laughing. Some were even dancing. Champagne corks were popping around the place. We arrived there later than we wanted – the footbridge was closed and we had to walk around half of Ustka to get to the sea but we made it on time and a beautiful show of fireworks that started when the countdown went from 10 to 1 was a truly rewarding one. So we greeted 2020 only few meters away from the sea, looking above our heads at this special sparkly performance.

Since we travelled all this way to the seaside (and it was 5 hours one way) I wouldn’t have been myself if I didn’t take a bunch of perfume bottles with me. Every time we were going out for a walk I would take some flacons with me to take some pictures in this beautiful scenery I don’t have access to on a daily basis. It must’ve looked pretty funny for other people to see a stranger setting up a bottle between the rocks or on top of a piece of driftwood. I even lost a glove at the beach that we managed to find later on. Some really happy memories that started my 2020.
