When a perfume is sparkly like a crystal, multifaceted like a shiny ruby & warm like an embracing touch of satin – it’s bound to be a wonderful composition. Without further ado I am happy to announce that the lucky winners of my part of Puredistance Rubikona samples giveaway are…
[drumroll please] Sylvia and Lynn Watson!
Congratulations to both of you and thank you to other participants and to those who just stopped by to say a couple of kind words about my Rubikonareview – I really appreciate that and it makes me happy to hear that you enjoyed reading my impressions. It means a lot to be able to convey some emotions through text and to encourage people to try a perfume that reser.
Sylvia, Lynn – I will get in touch with both of you by email so make sure you check your inbox later in the day and your samples will be soon on their way. I hope you’ll enjoy this fragrance experience.
Perfume triplets – Undina, Hajusuuri & myself are happy to present to you our joint giveaway project. Since our perfume tastes are very similar and all 3 of us are fans of Puredistance we decided to share some love and pay their generEAUsity forward by sharing some RUBIKONA with our readers. Hop over to Undina’s Looking Glass and Hajusuuri Instagram for their US giveaway posts.
Over the 8 years lifespan of Chemist in the Bottle I was able to witness & observe a real evolution (or maybe a revolution actually) of how perfume blogs and people who write them are perceived by industry insiders. When I started in 2012 I didn’t know much and I didn’t have any connections with niche perfume brands. I had my own ways of finding samples, swapping for them. I was passionate about perfume, writing was one of my pastime pleasures so I continued blogging in my own way. After a year or 2 there were much more people who read my posts and upon my first visit to Esxence I learned that there are way more brands aware of my blog’s existence than I could’ve expected.
Esxence, along with Pitti Fragranze, those two big Italian perfume fairs were my trampoline to broadening my horizons as I discovered more brands & met new people behind them. Being there boosted my confidence that my reviews have a meaning and that press badge hanging around my neck was something I was proud of. Maybe I even felt a little bit famous in the glory days of perfume blogging. Brands were always happy to share samples of their collections and new fragrances – I never needed a full bottle to write about something nor have I ever insisted on getting a full-sized freebie in exchange for an article. To me that’s not moral & completely not my style.
when attention moved towards increasing sales by being active on Instagram and YouTube, blogs were pushed to the shade, started collecting dust and many perfume houses turned their back on bloggers as they didn’t find their support profitable enough. Of course not everyone behaved like that but if I were to name just one maison de parfum that had shown me & other writers an immense amount of support through the almost 20 years of their existence – it must be Puredistance. Unlike many these days, Jan-Ewoud Vos and his team still have so much faith in written words & they do a favor to each respectable blogger by sharing parts of their reviews on their official website. Of course nothing replaces the experience of a perfume on skin but a detailed description can give you some hints and ideas of what to expect.
Right now we live in a weird word where Coronavirus is posing serious thread to our families, friends and to ourselves. I know many of you have been stuck in their houses for months due to lockdown or restrictions that forbid you to move farther from your living area more freely. I am not in confinement right now (although this might change soon…) but I feel the pain of Esxence and Pitti Fragranze being cancelled. I miss my chance to reconnect with people I know & love talking to, and that thrill of discovering a lot of new fragrances. Possibly even perfumeries in your neighborhood are closed, or you live too far away from one to go & smell freely. What if I made the perfume come to you?
For this month’s launch of Rubikonaby Puredistance the brand has been extremely generous. I feel blessed by the amount of love & support they show, especially these days. This GenerEAUsity must go forward that’s why I would like to propose a giveaway and offer samples of this new perfume to a few lucky winners based in Europe or UK. In order to participate all you have to do is to leave a comment under this post and tell what you find most appealing about this newest Puredistance. You’ve got time until Sunday, October 25 at midnight (UTC+1:00) and the winners will be announced and contacted next week. That’s the least I can do to share some Puredistance love with you.
