In Poland spring usually begins in second half of March but to me the real spring starts in April. I remember that at this moment last year spring was in a full bloom where I live. The grass was green, the birds were singing and bees were buzzing, everything was returning to life after a long winter nap. But this year the winter is really nasty. Not that it’s very cold or something but it’s extremely long and moody. Snow appeared in late November or early December and… we didn’t have a gram of snow at Christmas because the temperature rose above zero and everything melted. We had a lot of snow for Easter instead. There’s no logic in it but oh well. White Easter was great anyway.
I’m hoping that with this post I’ll encourage winter to finally leave our country. Now I’m going to share with you a short list of few of my favourite perfume, that I would happily wear this season. Here I go!
Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue – I just received this beauty in a NST Swapmeet. As much as I don’t consider flankers as a good way of making perfume I make a special exception for this Prada fragrance. I find it much better than original Infusion d’Iris from 2007. Infusion d’Iris Absolue is more balmy than powdery. Proportions of iris and benzoin are so perfect! To me the smell is a beautiful orris root but with an airy, subtle and elegant quality. Very suitable for a spring day. I need a bottle!
Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme – My affair with this wonderful and sultry rose with just a hint of oud started months ago and I still can’t get enough of it. It smelled great in winter and I’m sure it will smell even more fabulous on a sheer and sunny day in spring. I wonder if papyrus might get a little bit more pronounced in warmer temperatures, it will smell great with the dark and mysterious rose from Rose Anonyme. I can’t wait to give it a try. I just need to wait for the weather to warm up a bit.
Parfum d’Empire Iskander – One of my favourite niche perfume houses just had to be included in this favourite spring things set. Is there any better mood-lifter than a generous dose of citrus? I doubt it! Iskander is the one I don’t have yet and will probably get it this spring. Its lemon and grapefruit opening is juicy and sour. The fragrance quickly turns aromatic thanks to coriander and tarragon. And it has that wonderfuly mossy base of a chypre. If you haven’t yet tried it, give it a try soon! Don’t forget! It’s worth giving it a sniff before we’ll have spring in all its might.
Le Labo Iris 39 – Spring is a great season for iris lovers, so many opportunities and so many different irises to wear. Iris 39 by Le Labo is the most springy I know. Intensively floral with iris and violet it gets creamy thanks to ylang-ylang. And it has some soft patchouli. What’s not to like here? After a few hours it reveals a pure musky base with some eventual nuances of civet, lime and spices: cardamom and ginger. When I smell it I think of a green meadow, tall grass and wild flowers.
Histoires de Parfums 1725 – it is inspired by Casanova and I find it to be a real unisex perfume. What it offers? Mild herbal lavender sweetened with licorice and vanilla evolving into a little bit more spicy scent thanks to star anise. Amber provides sensuality while grapefruit peel is very aromatic here. Its base is made of fine sandalwood which is kind of creamy because of the presence of almonds. 1725 has quite a mix-up of notes but to me it’s suitable for a year round wear.

Thank you Portia! I hope that it’s true. The snow is almost gone but we still don’t get much sun.
I still have a patch of snow out near the driveway. I hope today’s rain takes care of it. I’m sick of seeing reminders of this winter. We’ve had the wind here too. It’s only going to be slightly above freezing here today so I’m still wearing winter clothes and perfumes. I tried bringing on spring with my perfume choices last week but this week I admitted defeat and went back to my warm, cozy scents.
We have some snow leftovers here as well. We don’t get much sun lately and it’s raining at the moment so it looks more like autumn outside.
Too bad you had to return to your winter perfume. I can’t wait to pull out some spring freshies from the back of my perfume box.
The funny thing is I talked to my mom yesterday and she said her daffodils were blooming already and she’s about 50 miles south of me. My daffodils aren’t even close to blooming yet. So I guess if I want spring I need to drive about an hour to see it. 😉
That really is a funny thing! If spring doesn’t want to come to you, you can take a car and come to spring 😀

Iris does seem to be in a lot of spring scents. The daffies here bloomed at the end of January, they were a bit confused and we don’t get absolute seasons here on the San Francisco Peninsula. My spring scent is my very new En Passant (FM). It is described as white lilacs and I believe them. Just wish I could grow some real ones in the yard.
Iris is popular in spring compositions, true.
Oh, you got daffies so early, I just spotted some crocus at someone’s garden.

I’ve only recently fallen for Prada Infusion d’Iris, and I’m curious about the Absolue version. And now I think I will go crazy until I try Le Labo’s Iris, too! Those notes sound perfect. I love 1725 Casanova, too. It truly is unisex, and it is beautiful, yet as comfortable to wear as a pair of slippers. My favorite scent du jour is not niche: Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir L’Eau Exquise. I’ve been sampling muguet and violet fragrances so far this spring. I hope Spring will arrive soon for you, Lucas. And I hope it will stay longer than it does here in Virginia! We get like two days of spring and then someone flips a switch and we’re right in the middle of summer. :p
Prada Infusion d’Iris became a modern classic. Absolue is it’s richer version, it has great, buttery orris.
You haven’t tried Iris 39? Then you really must try it, it’s a great scent. Pricey but worth it.

Oooh! You finally received the Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue!!! It’s one of my newest favourites – I’m glad you liked it as well! Iris always means Spring to me.
Ineke’s After My Own Heart is another perfect Spring scent – primarily lilac – it’s breezy, fresh and comforting. I’m typically not a fan of lilac as it always reminds me of cheap bathroom air freshner thay sell in North America, however, in this instance, it’s very pretty and soft. The green notes, bergamot and sandalwood (I don’t detect any other obvious notes) seem to tame the lilac, preventing it from becoming common and nauseating.
I have yet to try 1725 Casanova – your review is tempting me to disregard my monthly perfume budget!

Yup, I got a 6ml decant 🙂 Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue never officially appeared in the stores in Poland but it can be bought online locally and if I decide (and I probably will) I will buy it that way, the source is trusted as I already bought perfume from that seller.
I’m not much familiar with Ineke offerings, I tried two or three but was not much impressed. But I’m happy you found the one you like.
You can purchase a sample of 1725 from decanting sites or directly from Histoires de Parfums. Their samples politics are great, six 2ml samples for 10€ shipped.

Oh I’m sure there are worse addictions, drugs, alcohol, smoking. Perfume might be an addiction but at least it’s not harmful to your health. Still any addiction can be hard for a wallet.
We don’t really have seasons where I am. I was wearing a t-shirt with a cardigan at the end of January, and have been in just a shirt/t-shirt for months now. Today, I’m wearing shorts…. I’m not trying to rub it in, believe me, but just to explain that the weather here is usually Hot, Hotter, and HELL ON EARTH with a rare period of a few weeks where everyone’s snowy winter is our spring. As a result, I never choose fragrances by the weather but, rather, by my mood. If I were not to wear certain types of perfume because of the weather, I’d be limited to about a 3 week period for my orientals. That would never work. LOL.
Wow, I’m intrigued! Never heard that there are places where 4 seasons are not really present. Aaannd… where do you live? Somewhere on Mars? Nah, just kidding. The US really are so different when it comes to weather?
I wish I could wear lighter clothes all year round, I’m fed up with piqued jacket and boots 😦

Honestly, it really feels a little like Mars — for a variety of reasons….. As for the weather, in the summer, it regularly is well over 42 Celsius here. Two summers ago, we had days and days in a row where the heat index was 47 Celsius or 118 Fahrenheit! I keep the air-conditioning on at around 19 or 20 Celsius nonstop, but going back and forth between the outside heat, the air-conditioned car, house, and other similarly frigid places always means I end up with the flu in July. So, seasons? No. Only graduated levels of hell. Can you see why I can’t let the weather influence my perfume choices? 🙂 God, Lucas, you would die here — positively curl up and die. LOL.
42 Celsius! Gee, that’s a living hell! We barely get such temepratures, even in the summer the termometer bar rises to 35 Celsius and not higher.
Now this totally justifies you not depending your perfume on the weather/season.

I think you should break out your sample of Andy Tauer’s No. 4 Reverie Au Jardin AND Zeta – these are nice spring scents too, with Zeta for the warmer spring days. And since it is top of mind (or maybe top of nose for me this week), I also suggest Cartier Baiser Vole EDT although it may tend towards too feminine for you.

I’m beginning to think that I experience spring later than everyone else in Perfumeland (unless there’s a perfumista in Alaska or the Yukon I don’t know about). Even Sigrun has more temperate weather due to proximity to the ocean. The combination of northern latitude and high elevation in the Calgary region means we really don’t see ANY green here until the beginning of May, and no one plants gardens until the beginning of June. So I’m not pulling out the Spring frags just yet; I need my comforting, snuggly fragrances right now with the advent of everyone else’s posts about Spring in their area. (Just to be clear, because it’s hard to read tone on the internet, read that without snark. I’m feeling more wistful than anything else.)
Spring is my favorite month, maybe because it is only a month long here, so I pull out the light florals: Après l’Ondée, Mimosa pour Moi, Le Temps d’une Fete, After My Own Heart. I wear irises year round, but something about violets/hyacinth/mimosa/lilac just says spring to me.
Well, that’s possibe. Your location has a quite influence where (if at all) you’ll get spring.
Saying so it is natural that you still stay with your warm and cosy perfume. You’ll take out the light ones when it’s time for them. Violets and lilacs are very nice spring choices.
I am so pleased spring is coming (which I keep repeating to myself, as we got snow last week and are slated to get more this week). Save me! I need to come to Poland. 🙂
