Blog birthday writing challenge

Where there is a reason, there also should be a time to celebrate. Birthday is a perfect occasion. Blog birthday is just as good! To commemorate 4 years of Chemist in the Bottle and to thank each and every one of you for your friendship, for your support and for being a part of my world. I would like to share even more perfume love with you. Over these years I received many samples thanks to you. Now is the time to give back and pass forward. Hence I announce blog birthday writing challenge.

Anyone who has been following my blog for at least 2 weeks can join the challenge. All you have to do is to choose a perfume and write a mini-review of it (keep it Quick Sniffs length). You can decide on your favorite fragrance, or a one you don’t really like. It’s also ok to write about a perfume I reviewed in the past. Be creative and go freestyle. Your review can be super serious or it can be funny & comical. A piece with a wink would be also interesting to see. Just write as you feel it. Post your submission in a comments section below or send it via email if you feel more shy.

After 14 days, on 23rd of July the challenge will end. Then I will evaluate all the entries with some help from my friends and we’ll pick our 3 favorites who will win. Their submissions will be posted by the end of a month in a separate post. Lucky trio will be awarded the following gifts:

  • 1st place – 100 ml of Maisia by Maison Gabriella Chieffo,
  • 2nd place – 50 ml of Costarela by Carner Barcelona,
  • 3rd place – 3×10 ml Discovery Set by Aedes de Venustas.

Thank you – to everyone who actively reads Chemist in the Bottle and likes to comment and to all those who read the blog quietly, without showing up their faces. In this place I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to Gabriella Chieffo, Carner family, Francisco Gratacos and Olivier Le Didroux for joining my blog’s 4th anniversary by generously donating prizes for a writing challenge.

Many, many thanks from the bottom of my heart. Perfume people are the best people in the world. Good luck to everyone who will join with their ideas – let the creative thinking and ideas flow freely and may Chemist in the Bottle blog birthday writing challenge begin!

How exciting! I hope my poor old brain can think something up, although I am struggling with a bad cold right now and it is affecting my thought processes.

You’re right – perfume people are wonderful. Kind, intelligent, articulate, generous, imaginative, sympathetic, artistic ….. I could go on! It’s a great community to be part of.

I’m sure you’d be able to come up with something brilliant.
Oh no, get better soon. Cold, cold, go away.

Generous and sympathetic are two that in my opinion describe this community the best

Congratulations on four years! I forgot to comment last week when you wrote about this milestone so I’ll do so now! I read all your posts but I don’t comment often. Your reports from Esxence and Pitti Fragranze are always a huge pleasure to read. I also read archived reviews, most recently your review of Memo Italian Leather, which I’d sampled and loved. You described it beautifully.

Thanks for sharing your perfume journey with us! We appreciate you 🙂

Congratulations Lucas! Hope you will be better already, Jillie!
Here is my contribution (please keep in mind that English is not my best language).

In my perception perfume is connected with colour. So with my dark yellow shirt I wear Arabie, my shocking pink scarf goes with Fracas, a brown outfit has Bornéo 1834, and so on.
Some perfumes have more than one shade, and such one is Iris Silver Mist. In the beginning it smells earthy, like carrots and moist leaves in the wood. As time goes on, there emerges a clear, silvery veil. The effect is magic. A cool evening after a damp day. Then, at the very end, there is something flowery in the air. Shy, but definitely there. It reminds me of something I cannot identify, could it be the vintage Climat?
If Iris Silver Mist was a character, it would be the youthful, versatile Hermes, and at the same time the old, wise, ever changing Proteus.

Congrats Lucas!!! Wishing you more subscribers and more reviews to come!

I’m not good at describing scents but when I smell Mandarine Glaciale Atelier Cologne there’s something really warm and inviting about it. I realized it took me back to Sicily, where I wore it everyday while traveling. It gave me such a thrill and a sense of lightness. It’s also a little bit spicy, breezy scent, something that wouldn’t bother others but would just give a tiny whiff of something juicy yet breezy. So it definitely evokes emotions for me, nostalgia mostly.

    Thank you!
